The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has donated 400 bags of fertilizer to farmers in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State as part of efforts to strengthen civil-military relations and support communities affected by insecurity in the North West.

According to an official signed statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the intervention was carried out through the Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

The statement noted that the distribution ceremony took place at the Palace of the Emir of Maru on Thursday and attracted government officials, military officers, traditional rulers and members of the local community.

The fertilizer support initiative, undertaken as part of the Nigerian Army’s corporate social responsibility efforts, is aimed at assisting farmers ahead of the 2026 farming season and boosting food production across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Theatre Commander, Major General Warrah Idris, represented by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Air Vice Marshal Usman Abdullahi, said the gesture reflected the commitment of the Armed Forces to restoring peace and rebuilding hope in communities impacted by insecurity.

He reaffirmed the determination of the military and other security agencies to sustain ongoing operations against terrorism and criminality across Zamfara State and the wider North West region.

The senior military officer also urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the fertilizers during the farming season and called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely intelligence.

Earlier, the Vice Chairman of Maru Local Government Area, Honourable Laminu Dansadau, described the intervention as timely and commendable, applauding the Nigerian Army and Operation FANSAN YAMMA for supporting local farmers and contributing to economic recovery in the area.

In his remarks, the Emir of Maru, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Gado Maigari, expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for the initiative and assured that the fertilizers would be distributed equitably to genuine farmers across the emirate.

The event featured symbolic distribution of fertilizer to selected beneficiaries, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
