Troops of 17 Brigade Nigerian Army have successfully ambushed fleeing terrorists in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing three insurgents and recovering arms, ammunition as well as other items during the operation.

According to an official signed statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 17 Brigade, Captain Abayomi Adisa, the operation was conducted by troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) FUDMA as part of ongoing offensive operations against terrorists and criminal elements in the state.

Captain Adisa stated that the troops took up blocking positions along the Turare–Kitibawa–Kuka–Mai Damusa Road in Dutsin-Ma LGA, following sustained military pressure on terrorists operating within the Matazu general area.

He disclosed that at about 9:40 pm on Friday, 9 May 2026, the troops successfully ambushed a group of terrorists attempting to flee from ongoing military operations.

“Accordingly, 3 terrorists were neutralized while one AK-47 rifle, one magazine loaded with 3 rounds of ammunition, one motorcycle, 3 cutlasses, assorted charms and cash sum of N3,500 only were recovered,” he stated.

The Army spokesman added that troops have continued to sustain offensive operations against criminal elements with a view to restoring peace and security across Katsina State.

He further urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence to facilitate the elimination of criminal elements operating within the state.
