The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has called for increased commitment to research, documentation, and continuous professional development within the Nigeria Police Force, describing them as critical to effective modern policing and institutional growth.

IGP Disu made the call on Thursday while attending the formal launch of two books authored by his predecessor, retired Inspector-General of Police Sunday Gabriel Ehindero, CFR, NPM, fwc, held at the Conference Hall of the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja.

The event featured the unveiling of the titles Reflections on Policing and Security and My Adventure in Policing Nigeria, and was chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR.

In his remarks at the ceremony, the IGP described the publications as valuable reference materials for contemporary policing practice, noting that they contribute meaningfully to the documentation of institutional experiences and operational lessons within the law enforcement sector.

He urged officers of the Nigeria Police Force to prioritize continuous learning and the systematic recording of professional experiences, stressing that such efforts are essential to preserving institutional memory and strengthening the evolution of policing standards in the country.

IGP Disu further emphasized that understanding the historical and practical development of law enforcement operations remains vital to enhancing effectiveness, professionalism, and adherence to the rule of law.
