The National Emergency Management Agency and the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency have jointly distributed relief materials to victims of the March 29, 2026 gunmen attack in Angwan Rukuba, Gari Ya Waye Market, located in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The intervention followed an earlier delivery of relief items and medical supplies by the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, on behalf of the Federal Government. The items were received by the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, who pledged that the state government would work closely with relevant agencies to ensure that only affected victims benefited from the support.
The distribution exercise took place at Government Secondary School Chonyap in Angwan Rukuba and at the Jos North Local Government Secretariat. It was conducted under the supervision of state and local government officials, alongside security agencies and humanitarian partners, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
Speaking during the exercise, the Head of NEMA’s Jos Operations Office, Hajiya Bintu Wana, and the Executive Secretary of PLASEMA, Dr. Sunday Abdu, extended condolences to families affected by the attack and called for sustained peaceful coexistence among residents. They also urged communities to support ongoing efforts aimed at preventing similar incidents.
As part of the broader response, medical consumables had earlier been supplied to hospitals treating injured victims to aid their recovery.
Community leaders from both Christian and Muslim groups commended NEMA for its prompt response and the timely delivery of assistance, describing the intervention as critical support for affected families and a step toward restoring normalcy in the area.
