The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has appointed Ohaeri Osondu Joseph as the new Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), in a strategic move aimed at strengthening the agency’s public communication and nationwide road safety advocacy.
The appointment forms part of the Corps’ efforts to reposition its public engagement structure, enhance nationwide awareness campaigns, reshape public perception, and promote responsible road use across Nigeria.
With over two decades of professional service in the Corps, Joseph brings extensive experience in media relations, operational command, policy coordination, and stakeholder engagement. He previously served as Media Relations Officer at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja for 15 years, where he played a significant role in projecting the activities and policy directions of the organisation to the public.
His operational experience includes serving as Unit Head of Operations in Keffi and Bida, as well as Assistant Corps Commander (Operations) at the Kaduna Sector Command, where he led strategic interventions to improve compliance with road safety regulations.
Joseph also served as Head of Special Duties and External Relations, a role through which he facilitated key partnerships and strengthened collaboration between the Corps and other institutions.
A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the Institute of Corporate Administration, he is widely regarded as a respected professional in public communication and road safety advocacy.
He is the author of the book “The Potency of Public Enlightenment Campaigns on Road Crash Reduction in Nigeria,” alongside several publications that contribute to discussions on road safety awareness and accident reduction strategies.
His professional contributions also extend beyond the Corps, having served as Public Relations Officer of the Methodist Archdiocese of Abuja and Chairman of the Publicity and Media Committee during the commemoration of 170 years of Methodism in Nigeria.
Joseph’s leadership track record within the FRSC includes a notable tenure as Unit Commander of the Lugbe Unit Command and a role as Special Assistant on Media to the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs.
Until his latest appointment, he served as Deputy Corps Commander in charge of Marshal Inspectors, Administration and Human Resources at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, where he contributed to institutional reforms and personnel development within the Corps.
He has also received several recognitions throughout his career, including the FRSC Best Unit Commander Award in 2022, multiple leadership and innovation awards, and international recognition as a Peace Ambassador and Chaplain.
With his appointment as Corps Public Education Officer, the FRSC is expected to intensify its public enlightenment campaigns, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and further drive its mission of reducing road traffic crashes across Nigeria.
