The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Service’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday, highlighting the strong and ongoing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS in securing the nation.

According to an official statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the meeting provided a platform to deepen collaboration between the two agencies, which play complementary roles in safeguarding national security.

During the engagement, IGP Disu described the DSS as a vital yet often behind-the-scenes partner in security operations, noting that no major operation could be successfully executed without their support. He outlined key areas of shared responsibility, including election security, counter-terrorism, VIP protection, combating cybercrime and economic sabotage, and intelligence sharing. The IGP also called for joint training programs to enhance operational readiness and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties with the DSS to maintain national stability.

In response, the DSS Director-General expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing IGP Disu, commending his extensive experience and dedication to policing. The DSS DG also lauded the President for supporting the police through nationwide renovation of training facilities and expressed confidence that IGP Disu would build on the achievements of his predecessors.

The DSS head further pledged that the Service would continue intelligence sharing and joint operations with the Nigeria Police Force, emphasizing the partnership as a critical national asset.

Concluding the visit, IGP Disu reiterated his determination to foster collaboration, enhance synergy, and consolidate the joint efforts of both agencies in safeguarding the country, promoting intelligence cooperation, and ensuring institutional harmony.
