The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has unveiled a comprehensive five-year strategic roadmap aimed at strengthening the Corps’ operational capacity, professionalism, and technological capabilities for improved service delivery across the country.
The roadmap was presented during a high-level strategic meeting with senior officers of the Corps at the commencement of his second tenure, setting a clear direction for a more professional, innovative, and responsive organisation.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi.
Reflecting on the achievements of his first tenure, Prof. Audi highlighted several strategic initiatives introduced to expand the operational scope and inclusivity of the Corps. Among them are the Female Strike Force, the Safe School Initiative, the Mining Marshal, and the Special Intelligence Squad, all of which he said have significantly strengthened the Corps’ presence in critical areas of national security.
He also noted that his administration prioritised staff welfare and institutional reforms, resulting in improved personnel morale and a more structured approach to training, professional development, and career progression within the Corps.
Looking ahead, the NSCDC boss stressed the urgent need to deepen technology-driven operations, explaining that contemporary security threats require smart, intelligence-led responses.
According to him, the adoption of modern technology will enhance operational efficiency, reduce exposure to hazards in the field, and minimise risks faced by personnel during operations.
In further demonstration of this commitment, the Commandant General distributed operational wears, surveillance equipment, and technological gadgets to commands across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He explained that the deployment of the equipment is aimed at improving operational readiness, enhancing efficiency in service delivery, and fostering a strong organisational culture that will reinforce the Corps’ identity within the country’s security architecture.
CG Audi expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the confidence reposed in him through his reappointment.
He also commended the President’s continued support for the Corps, particularly in advancing technological innovation and strengthening institutional capacity.
Reaffirming the priorities of his second tenure, the NSCDC Commandant General stated that his administration will place strong emphasis on professionalism, discipline, and accountability while working to strengthen public confidence in the Corps’ mandate to protect critical national assets and infrastructure.
He noted that the strategic engagement reflects a renewed vision to build a technologically advanced, disciplined, and forward-looking NSCDC capable of effectively addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
