The Acting Corps Commander Education of the Nigerian Army Education Corps, Yushau Dogara Ahmed, has launched a nationwide academic support initiative designed to boost the performance of students in Command Secondary Schools ahead of major external examinations.

The initiative, which targets both teachers and Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) students, is aimed at strengthening teaching effectiveness and improving students’ readiness for examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council, National Examinations Council and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Education Corps, Lagos, Abdullahi Lawal Osabo, the Acting Corps Commander Education directed Command Secondary Schools nationwide to organise specialised academic workshops and training sessions as part of the programme.

The initiative includes targeted academic clinics, intensive revision classes and examination technique workshops focused on core subject areas to better prepare students for their upcoming external examinations.

Education officers and subject specialists are facilitating the sessions, providing in-depth revision, practical guidance on answering examination questions and strategies for effective time management to help students maximise their performance.

The programme is part of broader efforts by the Nigerian Army Education Corps to strengthen teachers’ instructional capacity while equipping students with the academic skills required for outstanding performance in external examinations.

The ongoing seven-day intensive training programme for teachers and SS3 students is scheduled to take place across Command Secondary Schools nationwide between March and April 2026.

The initiative underscores Brigadier General Ahmed’s commitment to sustaining academic excellence within the Command Secondary School system and further reinforcing the reputation of Nigerian Army schools as centres of discipline, academic excellence and holistic development in line with global best practices.
