The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening security in Taraba State and protecting lives and property as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate peace and support development across the region.
This assurance was given by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, during a courtesy visit by the Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force in Abuja on March 26, 2026.
Air Marshal Aneke described the visit as a significant step toward deepening collaboration between civil authorities and the Armed Forces in tackling evolving security challenges. He commended Governor Kefas for his proactive leadership in promoting peace, unity, and socio-economic development in Taraba State.
The Air Chief noted that Taraba’s strategic geographical position makes it imperative for security agencies to maintain sustained and coordinated operations to preserve stability in the state and its surrounding areas.
Reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment, Aneke assured the governor that the Service would continue to support security efforts through precision air operations, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, and logistical assistance to ground forces.
He emphasised that the Nigerian Air Force remains guided by its constitutional mandate to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity and provide aid to civil authorities when required.
According to him, ongoing joint military operations within and around Taraba State demonstrate the NAF’s resolve to consolidate security gains while strengthening national resilience against emerging threats.
The Chief of the Air Staff also highlighted the need for deeper cooperation between the military and state authorities, particularly in intelligence sharing, coordinated operational planning, and community engagement.
He stressed that such collaboration would help achieve enduring peace while ensuring that all operations are conducted with professionalism and respect for human rights.
Responding, Governor Kefas expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force for its sustained contributions to security in Taraba State.
The governor noted that the effective deployment of airpower and enhanced aerial surveillance by the Air Force had significantly improved situational awareness and operational outcomes across the state.
He added that the interventions have strengthened public confidence and contributed to sustaining Taraba’s growing reputation as one of the safest states in Northern Nigeria.
Kefas assured the Chief of the Air Staff of his administration’s continued support for security agencies, pledging to strengthen civil–military cooperation as a catalyst for investment, development, and social stability.
Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening strategic collaboration in pursuit of lasting peace, improved security, and inclusive growth in Taraba State and across Nigeria.
