The Nigerian Navy has handed over eight suspected oil thieves and about 44,000 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rivers State Command, following a successful intelligence-led operation in Degema and Ogbologo areas of Rivers State.
The suspects and the seized products were apprehended by personnel of NNS Pathfinder during ongoing anti-crude oil theft operations under Operation Delta Sentinel. The operation forms part of sustained efforts by the Navy to curb illegal refining and protect Nigeria’s oil infrastructure.
The handover was conducted on behalf of the Commander of NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Muttalib Raji, underscoring the Navy’s commitment to due process and strengthened inter-agency collaboration in tackling economic sabotage.
Naval authorities said the action aligns with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Idi Abbas, to intensify operations against crude oil theft and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.
Operation Delta Sentinel continues to play a critical role in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil assets, as security agencies ramp up coordinated efforts to dismantle illegal refining networks and protect national revenue.
