The Director General of the Nigerian Army Finance Incorporation (NAFIC), Major General Julius Osifo, has urged troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) to take full advantage of existing welfare and financial schemes provided by the Nigerian Army to enhance their well-being and operational effectiveness.

Osifo made the call on Monday, March 23, 2026, during a sensitisation visit to troops at the Headquarters Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, at Maimalari Military Cantonment in Maiduguri.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the visit formed part of efforts to deepen awareness of welfare initiatives available to personnel, particularly those deployed in frontline operations.

The NAFIC boss explained that the organisation is responsible for managing key welfare programmes, including the Nigerian Army Benevolent Fund and the Group Life Assurance Scheme, as well as other support packages designed to assist personnel in cases of injury, permanent disability, or death in service.

He noted that the sensitisation programme also covered critical areas such as the Nigerian Army Personnel Loan Scheme, the Chief of Army Staff Personnel Loan Programme, activities of the Directorate of Non-Public Funds (DNPF), and the establishment of the Nigerian Army Microfinance Bank (NAMFB).

Osifo emphasised that the initiative was designed to educate troops on their entitlements, responsibilities, and the wide range of benefits available to them, stressing that improved awareness would significantly boost morale and strengthen their fighting spirit in ongoing operations.

He commended the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, for his leadership and operational achievements, noting that sustained offensive operations have continued to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore public confidence in the Armed Forces despite a few isolated setbacks.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander described the visit as timely, coming at a critical phase of the ongoing dry season operations. He disclosed that troops have recorded notable successes, including the neutralisation of about 300 terrorists through well-coordinated operations supported by superior firepower.

Abubakar added that increased awareness of welfare packages has played a significant role in boosting troop morale, as personnel are reassured of adequate institutional support in times of need.

He noted that the welfare initiatives align with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu’s “Soldier First Culture,” which prioritises the welfare and administrative well-being of Nigerian Army personnel.

The visit featured a ceremonial quarter guard inspection, an interactive session with officers, the signing of the visitors’ book, presentation of souvenirs, and a group photograph.

Military authorities say the engagement underscores NAFIC’s commitment to promoting professionalism, strengthening welfare awareness, and supporting sustained operational success in the fight against insurgency in the North East.
