The Military Secretary (Army), Everest Ifeanyi Okoro, has delivered a career sensitisation lecture to officers of the Nigerian Army under 1 Division, aimed at strengthening professionalism, leadership capacity and structured career progression.
The lecture, held at Major General TA Lagbaja Hall, Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna, brought together officers from various formations, units and establishments within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division, Ajemasu Jingina, the session focused on guiding officers on effective career management, including postings, promotions, courses and other entitlements critical to their professional growth.
In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, described the lecture as a strategic initiative rather than a routine engagement. He stressed that operational effectiveness must be complemented by structured career planning to sustain morale, discipline and long-term development within the force.
Wase urged officers to take personal responsibility for their career trajectories by embracing continuous learning, upholding discipline and striving for excellence in all assignments.
The lecture aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, which seeks to transform the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient force capable of effectively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.
The event featured the presentation of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book and group photographs, underscoring the Army’s commitment to institutional development and capacity building.
