The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called on Nigerian women to actively participate in politics as a means of shaping national discourse and contributing meaningfully to the country’s development.

Dabiri-Erewa made the call while delivering a keynote address during the International Women’s Day celebration organised by Zenith Bank at the Civic Center.

According to a statement issued by the Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of the Commission, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the NiDCOM boss urged women to support one another and remain committed to collective nation-building.

Speaking on the theme, “Take It, You Own It,” Dabiri-Erewa encouraged women to be bold and proactive in leadership and governance, stressing that their participation in politics would strengthen democratic processes and help address issues affecting women and society at large.

She also commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what she described as inclusive leadership through the appointment and election of women into key positions in government. She further praised the initiatives of the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, noting that her programmes have continued to make a positive impact on the lives of women and children across the country.

In her remarks, the Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji, urged women to remain courageous, dedicated and visionary in their personal and professional pursuits, emphasizing the importance of resilience and leadership among women.

The Zenith Bank International Women’s Day Seminar is an annual event aimed at inspiring and empowering women within and outside Nigeria. The programme provides a platform for leadership development, professional growth and dialogue on issues affecting women.

Organisers noted that the seminar continues to serve as a key avenue for promoting women’s empowerment, social impact and inclusive economic participation.
