The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged its Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) to deepen the use of digital tools to enhance innovation, efficiency and service delivery across the Scheme.
The call was made by the Acting Director of Information and Communication Technology of the NYSC, Kwaghe Joseph Vandi, during a Capacity Building Workshop for Local Government Inspectors held in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Scheme, Caroline Embu, the workshop highlighted the NYSC’s commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for discipline, accountability and operational efficiency in the administration of corps members nationwide.
Speaking at the event, Vandi noted that in an era defined by digital transformation and data-driven decision-making, the NYSC, as a forward-looking institution, must continue to embrace technological advancement to improve its operations.
“The introduction and expansion of initiatives such as the NYSC Integrated System (NIS), the monthly biometric clearance and several other ICT-driven platforms have significantly improved transparency, accountability and efficiency in the Scheme’s operations,” he said.
He added that the continued success and sustainability of these innovations largely depend on the commitment of Local Government Inspectors who play critical roles in the day-to-day supervision of corps members.
Vandi described the workshop as a strategic investment in human capital aimed at equipping participants with the digital skills and competencies needed to navigate the modern ICT framework of the NYSC with confidence, innovation and efficiency.
Also speaking at the workshop, the Director of Corps Welfare and Health Services, Omotade Ayodele, urged participants to maintain integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He emphasised that as Local Government Inspectors, they must uphold the ideals of the NYSC, remain firm and visionary, demonstrate empathy and serve as worthy ambassadors of the Scheme in their various duty stations.
Participants at the capacity building workshop included the NYSC State Coordinators for Benue State and Nasarawa State, as well as Zonal and Local Government Inspectors drawn from both states.
