Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa State Command, have arrested two suspected vehicle thieves and recovered a stolen DAF truck cabin during an intelligence-led operation in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of the state.

The operation, carried out in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, to strengthen community-based policing and intensify the fight against crime, resulted in the arrest of Abdulrahaman Danjuma, 31, of Mararaba, and Saadu Umar, 34, of Zone Four, FCT Abuja.

According to an official signed statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspects were apprehended on February 28, 2026, at about 10:30 a.m. at the Tudun Wada area of Mararaba following credible intelligence.

During the operation, police operatives attached to Mararaba ‘A’ Division recovered an unregistered white DAF truck cabin suspected to have been stolen. A search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of two number plates: DGA 118 XA and USS 168 XA.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects allegedly stole the trailer from Kogi State before driving it to Mararaba. They further confessed to selling the trailer body to an as-yet-unidentified buyer through the assistance of a proxy who is currently at large. The transaction, according to the suspects, was carried out for the sum of four million naira.

The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, charging them to intensify efforts toward apprehending other suspects connected to the crime.

He also directed the immediate transfer of the suspects and the recovered exhibit to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for discreet and comprehensive investigation as authorities work to unravel the full extent of the criminal network behind the theft.
