The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Male Volleyball Spikers Team has crowned an exceptional season with victory at the 2025 National Volleyball Super Cup Tournament, defeating the Nigeria Customs Service team in a thrilling final held at the Moshood Abiola Indoor Stadium on Saturday, 7 February 2026.
The Super Cup Volleyball Tournament, which brings together the country’s top-performing teams at the end of the regular league season, is designed to identify the best club side in Nigeria while promoting excellence, competitiveness and the overall development of volleyball nationwide. It also serves as a key platform for assessing outstanding players for future national team selection.
In an official statement signed by the Acting Director of Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Nigerian Navy disclosed that the CNS Male Volleyball Spikers’ latest triumph further reinforces their dominance in Nigerian volleyball, coming on the heels of consecutive victories in the 2024 and 2025 National Volleyball Premier League seasons. The statement noted that several members of the team earned individual honours during this period, underscoring the depth of talent and consistency within the squad.
Their success in the just-concluded 2025 Premier League season qualified the team as one of six elite clubs that contested the Super Cup tournament, which ran from 31 January to 8 February 2026 at the Moshood Abiola Indoor Stadium. Demonstrating the Navy’s growing strength across both genders in the sport, the CNS Female Volleyball Spikers Team also delivered a commendable performance, securing the bronze medal after finishing third behind the Chief of Army Staff Female Volleyball Team.
Reacting to the achievement, the Chief of the Naval Staff congratulated the players and officials on what he described as an outstanding performance, highlighted by the successful defence of their league title for the second consecutive year and the swift addition of the Super Cup trophy. He noted that the feat reflects the team’s resilience and winning mentality, describing it as evidence of sustained excellence built on discipline, sound preparation and strong team spirit.
The CNS further observed that the Volleyball Spikers have remained consistent in representing the Nigerian Navy with distinction, setting a benchmark for professionalism, competitiveness and sportsmanship both on and off the court. While celebrating the back-to-back league titles and the Super Cup victory, he cautioned the team against complacency, reminding them that success comes with increased expectations and greater responsibility.
Reaffirming his commitment to the team’s future, the Chief of the Naval Staff pledged continued support, particularly in the areas of player development and coaching excellence, to ensure sustained success at both national and international levels.
The victory, according to the Navy, underscores the importance the CNS places on sports as a vital tool for keeping personnel physically fit, mentally resilient and highly motivated in the discharge of their duties. It also aligns with the broader mission of the Chief of the Naval Staff to foster well-rounded personnel capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests with professionalism and dedication.
