The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested popular Kannywood actress, Samha Inuwa, over an alleged act of Naira mutilation.

The arrest took place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the circulation of a viral video on social media in which the actress was reportedly seen using Naira notes to clean mucus from her nose.

According to the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the Commission swung into action immediately after the video surfaced online, tracing the suspect and effecting her arrest for questioning.

Oyewale disclosed that the actress is currently in the custody of the Commission, where she is being interrogated as investigations continue into the incident.

He added that Samha Inuwa will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, in line with relevant provisions of the law on currency abuse.

The EFCC reiterated its resolve to enforce laws protecting the integrity of the Naira and warned against acts capable of degrading the nation’s legal tender.
