The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to sustained collaboration with state governments in strengthening internal security, as he received the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The high-level engagement highlighted the shared resolve of both parties to reinforce strategic synergy and advance coordinated approaches to tackling security challenges in Taraba State and the wider region.

In an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Governor Kefas was accompanied by a distinguished delegation comprising Senator Shuaibu Lau of Taraba North, Senator David Jimkuta of Taraba South, and Senator Haruna Manu of Taraba Central. Also in attendance were members of the House of Representatives, including Honourable Abdullahi Mohammed Lauwa, Honourable David Abel, and Honourable Ayuba Zaku, alongside other members of the Green Chamber. The delegation further included the Taraba State Commissioners for Justice, Information, and Finance.

During the meeting, Governor Kefas commended the Inspector-General of Police for his purposeful leadership and the visible efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in enhancing security across Taraba State. He particularly acknowledged the Force’s intervention in Karim Lamido, an area recently designated by the state government as a “Special Area of Security Concern,” noting that police actions have contributed to the restoration of relative calm.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Taraba State Police Command through the provision of logistics and other critical resources, stressing that adequately equipped personnel are better positioned to deliver optimal operational performance and uphold public safety.

Responding, IGP Egbetokun described the visit as a significant step towards deepening the strategic partnership required for effective, community-oriented policing. He assured the Governor that the security of Taraba State remains a frontline operational priority for the Nigeria Police Force.

The Inspector-General pledged that the Force would continue to deploy requisite assets and apply intelligence-driven policing strategies to safeguard lives and property across the state, with special emphasis on consolidating stability in Karim Lamido and other vulnerable areas.

He further emphasised that sustained cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and state governments is essential for building public confidence and achieving lasting security outcomes.

The visit, both sides noted, represents another milestone in the collective effort to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security architecture, foster safer communities, and reinforce public trust in law enforcement institutions.
