Troops of 8 Division Garrison Strike Force operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 have recorded a major operational success in the ongoing clearance of terrorist and bandit enclaves within the notorious Sububu Forests of Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing six terrorists, recovering arms and ammunition, destroying logistics assets and rescuing a kidnapped underage girl.

The feat, achieved during a fierce and well-coordinated offensive aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts and restoring lasting peace to the area, was disclosed in an official statement by the Media Information Officer, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain David Adewusi.

According to him, the operation opened with a targeted strike on Indulumu village, where gallant troops engaged terrorists in a fierce firefight and successfully neutralised two of them. Following the encounter, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle from the neutralised terrorists, dealing an early blow to their fighting capability.

Buoyed by the initial success, the Strike Force advanced to Ruduno village, where they encountered stiff resistance from another group of terrorists. In a display of superior firepower, tactical manoeuvre and exceptional courage, the troops overpowered the criminals, neutralising four additional terrorists and effectively breaking a key component of the network operating within the axis.

Items recovered from the encounter at Ruduno included another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, while two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility and logistics were destroyed at the scene, further degrading their operational capacity.

Beyond the kinetic successes, the operation also recorded a significant humanitarian milestone. As troops exploited deeper into the forest during follow-up actions, they rescued a kidnapped underage girl, identified as Halira Ibrahim. The successful rescue brought an end to her captivity and offered renewed hope to her family and the affected community, underscoring the troops’ unwavering commitment to protecting innocent civilians and defeating kidnapping networks.

Captain Adewusi further disclosed that the offensive was sustained with the destruction of multiple terrorist camps and life-support structures located at Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga and Kukatara. The deliberate targeting and destruction of these enclaves have severely disrupted the terrorists’ ability to regroup, resupply and sustain operations, while denying them critical safe havens within the forested terrain.

The latest operation forms part of the broader efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to apply relentless pressure on terrorist and bandit groups across the North West, degrade their fighting strength, and restore normalcy to communities that have suffered years of violent criminal activities.
