Police operatives in Nasarawa State have arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects and recovered firearms during an intelligence-led operation, reinforcing the command’s ongoing efforts to curb violent crime across the state.
The suspects, Kabiru Isah and Monday Bulus, were arrested on Friday, 10 January 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. by operatives attached to the Nasarawa State Police Command’s Anti-Robbery Section. According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Ramhan Nansel, the duo had been on the police wanted list for their alleged involvement in several armed robbery operations in different parts of the state.
During the operation, police recovered one G3 rifle without a serial number from the suspects. A follow-up operation conducted on Sunday, 11 January 2026, further led to the recovery of a pump-action rifle, strengthening suspicions of the suspects’ involvement in violent criminal activities.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had recently entered Lafia and were allegedly lurking around Azuba Centre, a suburb of Lafia Local Government Area, with the intention of carrying out another criminal operation. Unknown to them, police operatives had placed them under surveillance before effecting their arrest.
The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the operatives for what he described as their professionalism and gallantry in executing the operation. He ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case and charged officers and men of the command to sustain the offensive against crime, stressing the need to continue dealing decisively with criminal elements in the state.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
