Police operatives attached to the Assakio Division of the Nasarawa State Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have stormed suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages of the Lafia East Development Area, arresting six suspected kidnappers and rescuing three abducted victims.
The operation, which led to the rescue of two females and one male, was disclosed in an official statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel. According to the statement, the victims were rescued unhurt, promptly treated and reunited with their families.
The police action followed a complaint lodged on 7 January 2026, reporting that suspected kidnappers had invaded Angara village, abducted two females and abandoned an infant at the scene. The same group was also reported to have later kidnapped another male from the village.
Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered a coordinated manhunt for the perpetrators. The swift directive led operatives to the kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and the Fadaman Bauna forest, where the suspects were arrested and the victims rescued during the operation.
Police investigations revealed that the arrested suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime. On the directive of the Commissioner of Police, they have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police has reassured the people of Nasarawa State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining its onslaught against kidnapping and other forms of criminality across the state, urging residents to continue to support the police with timely and credible information.
