IGP deploys DIG Gumel, 17 CPs to strategic commands, tasks senior officers on professionalism and service delivery

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has ordered the deployment of the newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel, alongside 17 Commissioners of Police, to key departments, commands and formations across the country, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership, boosting operational efficiency and enhancing public safety.

In an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the IGP said the deployments are part of ongoing efforts to reinforce operational capacity, improve service delivery and ensure effective policing nationwide. According to the statement, the postings are strategically designed to inject fresh leadership, deepen professionalism and reposition critical units of the Force for optimal performance.

Under the new postings, DIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel has been deployed to head the Force Intelligence Department (FID). Among the Commissioners of Police assigned to state commands are CP Aina Adesola, who takes over the Delta State Police Command; CP Umar Mohammed Hajedia, deployed to the Kebbi State Police Command; and CP Iyamah Daniel Edobor, posted to the Bayelsa State Police Command.

Other deployments include CP Osagie John Agans-Irabor as Commissioner of Police, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, FCID Annex, Lagos; CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola as Commissioner of Police, Special Enquiries Bureau, FCID, Abuja; CP Adepegba K. Adetoye as Commissioner of Police, Marine Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Tabitha Bako as Deputy Commandant, Police College, Kaduna; and CP Umar Ali Fagge as Deputy Commandant, Police College, Ikeja.

Also deployed are CP Audu Garba Bosso as Commissioner of Police, General Investigation, FCID Annex, Kaduna; CP Edwin Esiunnoh Ogbeghagha as Commissioner of Police, Community Policing, Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Arikpo Ofem Ikpi as Commissioner of Police, Investment Office, Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Cyril Uchenna Obiozo as Commissioner of Police, Maritime Command, Lagos; and CP Samuel Yerima as Coordinator of Courses, Police Staff College, Jos.

Further postings include CP Alhaji Mohammed Danlandi as Commissioner of Police, X-Squad, FCID Annex, Kaduna; CP Richard Bala Gara as Commissioner of Police, Inspectorate, Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters; CP Lasisi A. Titilola as Commissioner of Police, Railway Command, Lagos; and CP Obuagbaka C. John as Commissioner of Police, Safer Highway, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The Inspector-General of Police charged the newly deployed senior officers to bring their wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership skills to bear in their new assignments. He urged them to provide purposeful, result-oriented leadership, uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct, and ensure strict adherence to the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.

The IGP reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to reforms that promote effective policing, public trust and improved service delivery, noting that the new deployments are expected to further strengthen the Force’s capacity to respond to the nation’s evolving security challenges.
