In a bid to ensure that Nigerians are properly enlightened on government policies and programmes, the Voice of Nigeria (VON ) and the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) have agreed to collaborate.
The two agencies agreed on the partnership when the Director General of VON Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace received the Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi who paid him a courtesy call at VON corporate headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
Speaking during the visit, Adeniyi emphasized the need for the two agencies to work together to educate Nigerians about government policies in different languages.
“Tough decisions are being taken by the present administration and these decisions have to be communicated to Nigerians”.
“I am here to underscore the importance of open governance. This is the direction of public administration all over the world. We are serving a new administration that is focused not only in delivering the dividends of democracy but investing in renewed hope in its citizenry”.
“Renewed Hope for economic recovery, political stability and for the security of the nation. In the economic front, we have a very strong economic management team that is working round the clock to change the narrative of micro and macro economic management in Nigeria.”
The DG of VON in his remarks, expressed his desire to strengthen existing relationship between the two agencies.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank and the Nigerian Customs Service for the support that you have given to the Voice of Nigeria over the years. I want to assure you that working with my team, we would deepen the relationship between VON and Nigerian Customs Service.
“We broadcast in four local and four international languages and we want to make all the platforms available to the Nigerian Customs Service.
“Your integrity and pedigree spoke for you even before your appointment. The customs under your watch has generated over N1trn within a very short period of time,” he said.
