The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has assured the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) of the theatre’s unwavering support in advancing security cooperation, academic collaboration, and capacity development.
In an official signed statement, the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed that the assurance was given on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, during a special courtesy visit to the OPHK Headquarters in Maiduguri by the Vice-Chancellor of NAUB, Professor Lawal Bala Buratai. The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Military), Colonel Yusuf Bello, and the Commanding Officer, Administrative Battalion NAUB, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Musa.
During the visit, Professor Buratai stated that the objective was to familiarize the university leadership with the theatre command and explore opportunities for deeper partnership with OPHK. He expressed gratitude to the Theatre Commander for the warm reception and commended OPHK personnel for their sacrifices, resilience, and sustained efforts in combating insecurity in Borno State and the wider North East region. The Vice-Chancellor described the visit as long overdue and highlighted the university’s academic offerings including Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Security Management, encouraging OPHK’s participation to enhance capacity development.
In his remarks, the Theatre Commander warmly welcomed Professor Buratai and his entourage, underscoring the indispensable role of education in national development. He described the Nigerian Army University Biu as the “flagship university of the Nigerian Armed Forces” and reaffirmed OPHK’s commitment to safeguarding all critical national assets, stressing that NAUB remains strategically important to the theatre.
Major General Abubakar assured the university community of OPHK’s continuous support and expressed readiness to leverage the proposed academic programmes to enhance operational and administrative capacity across the command.
The visit concluded with the signing of the Visitors’ Register, exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
