The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has issued a firm public warning after a message began circulating online soliciting financial support for an alleged “End of Year Whistle Blowing and Anti-Corruption Reports Submissions” purportedly scheduled to hold between 17th and 22nd December at the EFCC Headquarters.
The message, which claims to be signed by one Dandaura Takalis, PhD, and linked to a so-called Coalition of Civil Society and Human Rights Organisation, has been declared completely false by the Commission.
In an official signed statement, the ICPC Spokesperson and Head, Media and Public Communications, J. Okor Odey, stated that the Commission has no knowledge of the individual, the organisation, or the event being advertised. He emphasised that at no time was the Commission contacted, consulted, or involved in any manner regarding the said programme.
The ICPC therefore distanced itself entirely from the circulating announcement and cautioned the general public to exercise the highest level of vigilance. According to the Commission, members of the public are strongly advised not to make any financial contributions or provide any form of support, as the message bears clear signs of a scam.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the ICPC urged citizens to verify all information related to the Commission through its official communication channels to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
