The Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Victor Muruako, Esq., has commended the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for its unwavering commitment to accountability and the fight against corruption across Nigeria. He gave the commendation in Abuja during the ICPC’s 2025 End-of-Year Activities.

Muruako conveyed warm felicitations on behalf of the management and staff of the FRC, describing the event as both timely and significant as the nation reflects on its challenges and achievements in the outgoing year. He praised the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, and the Commission’s leadership for sustaining ICPC’s reputation as one of the country’s most reliable and frontline anti-corruption institutions.

Highlighting the deepening collaboration between both agencies, Muruako pointed to the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding as a major milestone in strengthening inter-agency synergy in the fight against corruption. He explained that the two institutions have, in recent months, intensified joint efforts to enhance accountability at the local government level, with particular focus on improved budget preparation, prudent financial management and modernization of tax, financial and asset administration systems. He stressed that wherever acts of corruption are uncovered, the law must be allowed to take its full course to serve as a deterrent.

The FRC Chairman further disclosed that the Commission is finalizing its revised Five-Year Strategic Plan, which includes expanded areas of collaboration with the ICPC to support more effective implementation of their shared mandates.

Reflecting on the Commission’s achievements in 2025, Muruako expressed gratitude for the ICPC’s consistency and integrity, noting that the agency has continued to maintain an unblemished public record while resisting pressures and avoiding allegations of compromise. He encouraged the ICPC workforce to sustain their dedication to combating graft, assuring them that their sacrifices in service to the nation are highly valued.

Muruako also urged Nigerians considering relocation abroad to rethink their plans, expressing optimism about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda. He said Nigeria is steadily evolving into a nation where citizens will prefer to stay, work and succeed.

He reaffirmed the FRC’s strong support for the ICPC and expressed confidence that the coming year would usher in even greater achievements for both institutions.
