The Nigeria Police Force has officially unveiled the mascot, logo and theme for the 15th Biennial Police Games scheduled to hold in Asaba in 2026, marking a renewed commitment to promoting unity, fitness and excellence across the Force. The ceremony took place at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan International Peacekeeping Conference Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and brought together senior government officials, police leadership, sports administrators and invited guests.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, in his address, described the unveiling as a proud moment for the Nigeria Police Force, noting that it represents not just the introduction of a mascot but the unveiling of a renewed spirit as preparations intensify for next year’s Games. He emphasised that sports remain one of the strongest tools for building a disciplined, fit and community-connected Police Force, adding that the Police Games have grown into a platform that showcases unity, excellence and the best of police character.
The IGP stated that his administration is intentional about elevating standards, preserving the Force’s sporting heritage, and strengthening officer wellness, discipline and mental readiness. He expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for accepting to host the 2026 Games and for the remarkable support already demonstrated. He described Delta State as a home of sporting excellence and expressed confidence that Asaba would deliver a remarkable tournament befitting the Nigeria Police Force.
He also commended the Delta Sports Commission, the Chairman of the Force Sports Planning Committee, AIG Fom Pam Joseph, and the committee’s members for their dedication and commitment. He noted that the mascot being unveiled carries the core values of the Nigeria Police Force courage, unity, fitness and excellence both in service and in sports.
The IGP went on to present the official identity of the 2026 Games, announcing the theme, “Beyond the Badge; Excellence in Action!” and the slogan, “Discipline, Dignity and Dedication!” He said these ideals would guide all athletes and officers as they compete not merely for medals but as ambassadors of an institution built on honour, national pride and service to the Nigerian people. He expressed optimism that the 2026 Police Games would set new records and add a remarkable chapter to the history of the Force.
In his remarks at the unveiling ceremony, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori described the event as a celebration of unity, discipline and excellence within the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that the Biennial Police Games have become an important platform for promoting fitness, discipline, camaraderie and national cohesion among officers. The Governor stated that the logo unveiled represents identity and pride, the mascot symbolises courage and energy, while the theme speaks to friendship, brotherhood and excellence—values central to both policing and sportsmanship.
Oborevwori commended the Inspector-General of Police and the organising committee for their dedication and saluted the athletes who will proudly represent the Nigeria Police Force at the Games. He reaffirmed Delta State’s pride in hosting the 2026 edition and assured participants and guests of a peaceful, hospitable and celebratory atmosphere in Asaba. The Governor expressed confidence that the upcoming Games would inspire greatness and strengthen bonds within the Police Force and across the country.
The unveiling ceremony signals the beginning of heightened preparations for the Asaba 2026 Police Games, expected to draw thousands of officers, athletes and sports enthusiasts from across Nigeria.
