The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has been conferred with the prestigious Award of Excellence in Capacity Building and Staff Welfare by the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN).

Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications, disclosed in an official statement that the recognition, awarded by the National Executive Council (NEC) of ASCSN, celebrates the DG’s exceptional leadership, particularly her unwavering commitment to staff development, welfare, and institutional transformation. Engr. Coker-Odusote was also recently recognised with the Innovation Service Delivery award by the Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE), highlighting her notable innovations and improvements in service delivery under her stewardship.

Since assuming office, Engr. Coker-Odusote has pursued a bold and inclusive 5-Point Agenda, prioritising staff welfare and capacity building. Notable achievements include the promotion of over 3,000 staff members, implementation of a 25–30% salary increment approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, comprehensive training programs for all employees, executive retreats, management workshops, and a wide range of staff welfare initiatives.

In alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the DG has overseen the distribution of over 2,500 systems to enhance National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment, upgraded strategic departments with modern computers and workstations, introduced free staff bus services, developed a new staff car park, and facilitated access to national food palliatives to alleviate economic pressures. These initiatives have significantly boosted staff morale, productivity, and organisational cohesion.

Engr. Coker-Odusote’s open-door policy and proactive engagement with labour unions have fostered a culture of mutual respect and collaboration, setting a benchmark for public sector leadership. ASCSN lauded the DG’s “rare sincerity and sensitivity to the yearnings of workers,” praising her policies for improving productivity, working conditions, and social dialogue.

The award not only recognises past accomplishments but also underscores a continued commitment to excellence in public service and staff development under her leadership.
