The Federal Government has restated its unwavering commitment to confronting insecurity in all its forms, urging regional and international partners to deepen collaboration in the global fight against terrorism. The call was made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, when he received a high-powered delegation of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) led by its President, Archbishop Prof. Leonard Bature Kawas, during a courtesy visit in Abuja.
In an official signed statement, the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, disclosed that the SGF assured the delegation that the Tinubu-led administration remains fully committed to securing the lives and property of citizens. Senator Akume noted that the government has intensified efforts to root out insecurity and is further seeking collaboration from international allies to strengthen counter-terrorism operations. “But the government is seriously committed to eradicating insecurity… We need support from our allies to be able to fight terrorists in the land,” he stated.
The SGF expressed appreciation for the vote of confidence passed on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration by the religious body, describing it as an acknowledgement of the progress and ongoing reforms aimed at stabilising the country. He highlighted that the present administration continues to work closely with traditional rulers, business leaders, the private sector, political stakeholders and religious groups toward building a stable, prosperous and united Nigeria. Senator Akume therefore appealed to religious institutions to remain steadfast in praying for national peace and prosperity.
Speaking earlier, the President of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Archbishop Prof. Leonard Bature Kawas, reaffirmed the organisation’s unwavering support for the Tinubu administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity. He commended the government’s response to national challenges and assured the SGF that the clerics remain committed to praying for peace, unity and the overall progress of the country.
