The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has applauded Captain Adebanke Osilaja for making aviation history by becoming the first licensed Nigerian female pilot to attain the rank of Captain in any United States legacy airline.
In an official signed statement, the Head of Media and Public Relations at NiDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, disclosed that the Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the milestone as a remarkable breakthrough and a proud moment for Nigeria. She noted that rising to the role of Captain in a major American carrier reflects exceptional professionalism, resilience and mastery.
Dabiri-Erewa stated that Osilaja’s accomplishment stands as a powerful source of inspiration for young Nigerians globally particularly girls aspiring to careers in aviation and other male-dominated fields. She extended her best wishes to the esteemed Nigerian flight captain in all her future endeavours.
It will be recalled that Captain Osilaja was among the distinguished recipients at the 2025 National Diaspora Merit Awards held in Abuja in July, where her contributions and achievements were formally recognised.
