Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have recorded another operational success under the ongoing clearance operations code-named Operation Lafiya Nakowa, aimed at flushing out terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements from Taraba State.

According to an official statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the operation took place on 14 October 2025, following credible intelligence on the hideouts of suspected terrorists operating around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages in Ibi Local Government Area.

Acting swiftly on the information, troops deployed at Tapga Ngasawa village under Dampar District launched a series of coordinated clearance operations across the identified areas. During the operation at Badekoshi, troops made contact with the terrorists, who engaged them in a brief firefight before fleeing towards Fajul village near the forest. The gallant troops pursued the fleeing criminals with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and escape deeper into the forest.

A thorough search and exploitation of the cleared areas led to the recovery of several items, including one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and one Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during a previous attack at Tapga village.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism, bravery, and resilience. He urged them to sustain the current momentum and continue to dominate the operational environment until all criminal elements are completely neutralized and peace is fully restored across Taraba State.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of law-abiding citizens, assuring residents of Taraba State of its resolve to work closely with other security agencies and local communities in ensuring enduring peace and stability within the region.
