The Nigeria Police Force has joined the global community to commemorate the 2025 Customer Service Week, reaffirming its commitment to responsive, transparent, and accountable policing. The event, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, also featured the formal inauguration of the SERVICOM Committee—a strategic step aimed at reviewing the Police Service Charter and reinforcing the standards of service delivery across all formations of the Force.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, was represented at the ceremony by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, DIG Basil Idegwu. The event was attended by senior officers of the Force, the Acting National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mr. Gbenga Anthony Oshin, represented by Mrs. Ngozi Akinbodewa, Head of Operations, and other directing staff of SERVICOM.
In his remarks, the Inspector-General applauded officers and men of the Force for their growing professionalism and commitment to service reforms that have earned the Nigeria Police Force the award of “Most Improved Service Delivery Parastatal” in 2024. He urged them to sustain the momentum through continued dedication to public trust and excellence in service.
“Our journey toward excellence in service delivery is a continuous one. The recognition we received last year is not a destination but a reminder that the Nigerian people expect and deserve the very best from us,” the IGP stated.
Egbetokun emphasized that the newly inaugurated SERVICOM Committee will play a pivotal role in driving institutional accountability, strengthening citizens’ feedback mechanisms, and ensuring that the Police Service Charter reflects the evolving demands of modern policing.
The joint inauguration of the committee was performed by DIG Basil Idegwu and Mrs. Ngozi Akinbodewa, who commended the leadership of the IGP for his clear commitment to reform and improved service delivery. She noted that the establishment of the committee represents a crucial step toward aligning policing standards with global best practices.
“The Nigeria Police Force has demonstrated a commendable willingness to evolve. SERVICOM remains a partner in this process, ensuring that public service institutions deliver on their promises to the people,” Akinbodewa affirmed.
This year’s Customer Service Week, celebrated globally under the theme “Appreciating Service Excellence and Strengthening Customer Engagement,” provided an opportunity for the Force to reflect on its service delivery culture and recommit to its mandate of citizen-focused policing.
