…IGP Egbetokun Reaffirms Drive for Professionalism, Modern Policing, and National Security

By Nkechi Eze

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully passed out 10,000 newly trained Constables following the completion of their intensive training across various Police Colleges and Training Institutions nationwide.

In an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Passing Out Parade, held simultaneously across all designated training institutions on October 7, 2025, marks a major milestone in the Force’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its manpower base and enhance operational capacity in line with global policing standards.

Addressing the new recruits, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, commended their perseverance and discipline throughout the rigorous training exercise. He urged them to uphold the values of honour, diligence, and patriotism that have been instilled during their training, emphasizing that their service to the nation requires integrity and unwavering commitment.

During their course, the recruits were exposed to modern policing principles, ethical standards, and practical field operations tailored to equip them for the evolving challenges of 21st-century law enforcement. The curriculum placed strong emphasis on community partnership, intelligence-led policing, respect for human rights, and judicious application of authority, all geared toward promoting professionalism and strengthening public confidence in the police institution.

The IGP noted that the passing out of this latest batch of constables forms part of the Force’s strategic manpower development plan under the present administration, designed to enhance security presence, improve response capability, and reinforce public safety across Nigeria. He recalled that another set of 10,000 constables had graduated from various Police Training Institutions earlier in January 2025, reflecting the government’s sustained investment in police reform and capacity building.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to continuous training, welfare improvement, and institutional transformation, IGP Egbetokun affirmed that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to deliver professional, accountable, and citizen-focused policing.

He further assured that the new officers would be deployed strategically across the country to boost operational strength, improve visibility policing, and support ongoing efforts to ensure a safer and more secure nation for all Nigerians.
