The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, psc, mnips, has disbursed a total of ₦47,800,932.29 to families of police officers who lost their lives or sustained injuries while serving the nation.
The gesture, carried out on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, PhD, was described as part of the Force’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their dependants.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, the cheques were presented under the IGP’s Family Welfare Scheme and the Group Life Assurance Scheme, initiatives designed to cushion the effect of the loss and provide financial support to families left behind.
While presenting the cheques, CP Shettima commiserated with the bereaved and affected families, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes and the challenges endured by those injured in the line of duty. He praised the Inspector-General of Police for prioritizing the welfare of officers, stressing that such interventions strengthen the morale of serving personnel.
He also urged the beneficiaries to ensure prudent management of the funds in order to meet the pressing needs of their dependants and secure a sustainable future.
One of the beneficiaries, Hauwa Bukar, who spoke on behalf of others, expressed deep appreciation to the IGP, CP Shettima, and the entire police leadership for what she described as a timely intervention. She assured that the funds would be applied responsibly to support their families.
Reaffirming its dedication to the wellbeing of its personnel, the Nasarawa State Police Command pledged to continue upholding the values of service, compassion, and accountability while ensuring that officers’ sacrifices are not forgotten.
