The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has extended warm felicitations to officers, soldiers, and civilian staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria as well as Nigerians at large on the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Maulud celebration.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the CDS described the Maulud, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as a solemn moment that offers an opportunity to honor the Prophet’s life, emulate his teachings, and reflect on his enduring message of compassion, service, and humility.
General Musa urged members of the Armed Forces and all Nigerians to use the occasion as a period of reflection on unity, commitment, and loyalty. He drew inspiration from the Prophet’s mission of hope and goodwill, stressing that the same values must guide national life. “As the Prophet brought hope and good tidings to the world, so must we be promoters of peaceful coexistence and optimism, strengthening the bonds within our ranks and across our nation as we continue to serve with integrity, professionalism and dedication,” the CDS stated.
The Defence Chief further assured Nigerians of the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces to preserving national unity and fostering peaceful coexistence across the country. He reaffirmed that under his leadership, the military remains resolute in its constitutional duty to protect lives, uphold the rule of law, and support the collective prosperity of the nation.
He concluded by calling on Nigerians to draw lessons from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, particularly the virtues of compassion, tolerance, and humility, as the nation continues to strive towards peace, stability, and progress.
