The Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) has indicated its readiness to collaborate with NYSC Radio and Television, Abuja, in order to boost the quality of broadcasting and enhance content delivery.
According to an official statement signed by the Director, Information and Public Relations of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Caroline Embu, the National President of RATTAWU, Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu, made this known during a courtesy visit to the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
Comrade Kalu commended the NYSC broadcasting outfit for its educative, informative, and entertaining programmes, as well as its objective approach to news reportage. He also praised the Scheme’s management for its sustained role in grooming Corps Members for leadership, promoting national unity and integration, and providing them with skills and financial empowerment for self-reliance.
“We love what you are doing, and we have come to identify with you to encourage hard work. We need to have a strategic partnership,” Kalu said, stressing that RATTAWU was eager to support NYSC Radio and TV in achieving greater reach and impact.
In his response, the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, explained that NYSC Radio 88.3FM and Television were established to project the activities of the Scheme as well as government programmes to a wider audience. He emphasized that the media platforms also serve as a training ground for Corps Members who aspire to pursue careers in broadcasting after their service year.
General Nafiu affirmed the Scheme’s openness to collaborations that will enrich its programmes and further prepare Corps Members for productive engagements after service. He also commended the RATTAWU President for his visionary leadership and notable achievements since assuming office.
The planned partnership is expected to open new opportunities for strengthening broadcast quality, enhancing Corps Members’ skills, and projecting the NYSC’s contributions to national development.
