The Federal Government has applauded the Council of Former Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS) for its invaluable role in strengthening governance and promoting efficiency in Nigeria’s public service through its advisory contributions.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, gave the commendation when a delegation of the Council, led by its National Chairman and former SGF, Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, OSGF, Segun Imohiosen, Senator Akume acknowledged the series of advisory documents submitted by CORFEPS to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, covering critical sectors of the economy. He assured the delegation that the President, as a listening leader, would carefully consider their suggestions and recommendations in shaping policies and governance decisions.

The SGF also commended members of the Council for their meritorious service in the Federal Civil Service and reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to draw from their wealth of experience in advancing the nation’s development agenda.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Yayale Ahmed reiterated CORFEPS’ readiness to continue supporting the administration through its advisory role for effective service delivery. He noted that the Council has already submitted three key documents to President Tinubu, namely Strengthening the Renewed Hope Agenda on March 13, 2024; Enhancing Government Food Security Agenda on August 26, 2024; and The Deportation of Foreigners from the USA: Implications for Nigeria on December 19, 2024. In addition, he disclosed that an advisory paper on the Tax Reform Agenda has been forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration.
