It was a moment of warm reunion and purposeful engagement on Thursday, 14th August 2025, as the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners Forum, Alhaji Abdullahi Yalwa, led a high-powered delegation on an Advocacy Visit to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, at the Government House in Lafia.
The visit brought back fond memories for both men, who were contemporaries in the early 1980s at the Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana, USA. Their shared history was evident in the cordial atmosphere that characterised the meeting, which provided an opportunity to deepen cooperation between the State Government and the northern broadcast media community.
The delegation consisted of respected veteran broadcasters and broadcast media proprietors from across Northern Nigeria, including Shuaibu Mungadi, Madina Nadabo, Zubairu Abdulra’uf and Talib Abdullahi. During the visit, the Forum reiterated its commitment to promoting responsible journalism, fostering national unity and amplifying the developmental agenda of Northern states.
Governor Sule warmly received the delegation and expressed appreciation for the contributions of the Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners Forum to public enlightenment and socio-economic development. He noted that the Forum’s collective experience and patriotism remained invaluable in shaping public discourse and bridging the gap between government and citizens.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alhaji Yalwa expressed sincere gratitude to the Governor for the heartfelt reception and pledged the Forum’s continued support for his administration’s ongoing reforms. He emphasized that the media, especially within the Arewa region, would continue to partner with the government in projecting positive narratives, countering misinformation and encouraging civic participation.
The visit ended in a friendly atmosphere, with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to the peace, development and progress of the region.
