The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has rolled out its Reputation Management Campaign in Zone ‘B’, Kaduna, in a renewed nationwide effort to strengthen institutional integrity, enhance public confidence, and improve service delivery across its formations.
The campaign was officially flagged off on Wednesday, 13 August 2025, at the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’ auditorium in Kawo, Kaduna State. The event drew participants from various commands across the zone and featured a series of train-the-trainer sessions designed to equip key officers with the knowledge and tools needed to entrench the principles of reputation management throughout all units in the zone.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Customs Area Controller for FOU Zone ‘B’, Comptroller Aliyu Alkalia, expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and members of the Management Team for introducing the guide, describing it as “a significant milestone in the journey to enhance service delivery and project the positive image of the organisation.”
“Reputation is everything in the Service. It is the foundation for building trust and distinguishing the Nigeria Customs Service. Our conduct as officers directly shapes the Service’s image, and the seven golden rules serve as our compass for promoting transparency, accountability, and professionalism,” he stated.
Delivering the keynote address, the Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Adekunle Oloyede, represented by Comptroller Ofonime Ido, noted that a strong reputation forms the bedrock of operational effectiveness and encourages public cooperation. “As representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, we are ambassadors of our organisation. Our behaviour and conduct directly affect how the public perceives us,” he stressed.
Earlier in his welcome address, the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, underscored the importance of consistent communication and professionalism in sustaining the Service’s credibility and fostering constructive stakeholder engagement.
Throughout the train-the-trainer sessions, participants were exposed to practical strategies for implementing the principles contained in the Reputation Management Guide at the command and unit levels, guaranteeing uniform adoption across the Service.
Bringing the ceremony to a close, Deputy Comptroller Sambo Adamu reaffirmed the commitment of officers in Zone ‘B’ to fully uphold the Reputation Management Guide and reflect its values in all their operational and public engagements.
