President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) for a second and final tenure of four years.

The announcement was contained in an official statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen. He explained that the renewal is in line with the provisions of Section 93 of the Electricity Act, 2023, which guides appointments to the leadership of the Commission.

President Tinubu, while approving the reappointment, charged Yelwa to consolidate on the gains achieved during his first term and to bring greater innovation and dedication to the execution of N-HYPPADEC’s mandate.

Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, who has been at the helm of the Commission since his initial appointment, will now serve until the completion of his statutory final tenure, overseeing developmental interventions and infrastructure projects in hydroelectric power-producing communities across the country.
