The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has taken a major step towards reinforcing institutional integrity and enhancing service delivery with the launch of its strategic reputation management campaign in Zone ‘A’.
The initiative, unveiled on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Apapa Area Command in Lagos, is designed to reshape public perception, improve inter-agency collaboration, and inspire a higher standard of professionalism among officers.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Charles Orbih, described the programme as a turning point in redefining the identity and ethos of Customs officers across the country.
“Understanding what we deal with is fundamental to our success,” he noted. “Reputation, as captured in this guide, is a collective perspective on an institution’s integrity and performance. For the Nigeria Customs Service, a strong reputation builds public trust, fosters cooperation with both local and international partners, boosts staff morale, and strengthens citizen engagement.”
On his part, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, pledged the full commitment of officers in Zone ‘A’ to the principles outlined in the guide.
“On behalf of the officers and men of Zone ‘A’, I assure you that we are ready to abide by every principle taught in this programme,” Olomu stated, reaffirming the zone’s dedication to upholding the highest professional standards.
The launch featured presentations by three expert facilitators on the core principles of reputation management, followed by an interactive session that encouraged renewed professionalism, patriotism, and accountability among participants.
The NCS says the initiative reflects its broader commitment to institutional transformation under its leadership vision, with the ultimate goal of strengthening public confidence in the Service’s operations and reinforcing Nigeria’s credibility in global trade.
