The Director General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Dr. Ifeanyi C. Okeke, has formally welcomed the appointment of Honourable Yahuza Ado Inuwa as Chairman of the Standards Council of SON by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

In an official statement issued on behalf of the Management and Staff of SON, the Director General described Hon. Inuwa’s appointment as well-deserved and highly strategic, coming at a critical moment in the Organisation’s continued efforts to strengthen the national standardisation framework and promote quality assurance across all sectors of the economy.

Dr. Ifeanyi praised the new Chairman as a respected statesman and seasoned administrator whose wealth of experience, visionary leadership, and unwavering integrity would add immense value to SON and the nation at large.

“Hon. Inuwa is a distinguished administrator and respected statesman whose noteworthy integrity, visionary leadership, and wealth of experience will no doubt be of immense value to our Organisation and the nation at large,” the DG stated.

He noted that the appointment aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to building strong institutions and driving industrial competitiveness in line with global best practices. The Director General expressed confidence that under Hon. Inuwa’s capable leadership, the Standards Council will provide the strategic direction needed to further the Organisation’s mission of protecting lives, supporting Made-in-Nigeria products, and advancing a quality-driven national economy.

“This appointment comes at a pivotal time as we intensify efforts to strengthen standardisation, promote quality assurance, and boost industrial competitiveness. I am confident that under his leadership, the Council will offer the guidance necessary to elevate SON’s impact nationwide,” Mallam Salim added.

The Director General also reaffirmed the commitment of the SON management team to work closely with Hon. Inuwa and the Council to realise the organisation’s mandate of ensuring compliance with standards and enhancing consumer confidence in locally made products.

“On behalf of the Management and Staff of SON, I look forward to working closely with Hon. Inuwa and the Council to build a stronger, safer, and more standards-compliant Nigeria,” he said.

Dr. Ifeanyi concluded by extending his warmest congratulations to Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa, wishing him a successful and impactful tenure as Chairman of the Standards Council.
