The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully recovered a stolen vehicle following a reported armed robbery incident that occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Lafia, the state capital.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the development in an official statement, revealed that the incident was reported at the B Division, Lafia. According to the report, a gang of suspected armed robbers stormed the residence of one Aliyu Tijani, a staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), located along Old Police Barracks Road, Lafia, and carted away a Toyota Camry bearing registration number LFA 77 ST.

In the wake of the incident, the State Command immediately launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects and intensified efforts to recover the stolen vehicle.

These efforts paid off when the police received credible intelligence indicating that the stolen car had been sighted in Akwanga. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, detectives from the Akwanga Division mobilized to the location. However, upon sensing the presence of law enforcement, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled before officers could apprehend them.

The stolen Toyota Camry was recovered at the Lagos Park Area of Akwanga and has since been moved to the police station for further investigation.

Commending the prompt action of the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, also expressed appreciation to the residents of Akwanga Local Government Area for their cooperation and timely provision of actionable information. He urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the police by reporting suspicious activities, assuring them that such reports would be treated with the utmost confidentiality and seriousness.
