As part of the ongoing events commemorating the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), Taraba State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, has applauded the professionalism, loyalty, and sacrifices of officers and men of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, describing them as a source of pride to the state and the nation.
Speaking during the NADCEL Interdenominational Church Service held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Salvation Baptist Church, Jalingo, Governor Kefas, a retired military officer himself, delivered a stirring tribute to the Army and its leadership. “I am very proud of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army,” he declared, commending the troops for their operational commitment and discipline in the face of national security challenges.
The Governor reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Nigerian Army, which he described as his “first constituency,” and praised the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, for his visionary leadership. He emphasized that the strength of the military lies not just in firepower, but in the well-being, loyalty, and spiritual devotion of its personnel.
“Our loyalty and dedication to God is our greatest strength,” Governor Kefas noted, urging troops to remain committed to their duties, the Army, and to divine guidance. He assured the Brigade of the Taraba State Government’s continued backing and offered prayers for the safety and success of both serving and retired military personnel.
In his earlier remarks, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, emphasized the 2025 NADCEL theme: “Developing the Soldier First Concept: Imperative for Nigerian Army Transformation Drive.” He praised the resilience, discipline, and operational successes of the troops under his command, attributing their performance to the strong support from the Taraba State Government, local communities, and traditional institutions.
Brigadier General Uwa also acknowledged the crucial role of military families, extending heartfelt appreciation to the wives of soldiers for their strength and support in sustaining the home front.
Delivering the sermon, Assistant Director Chaplain Services (Protestant), Major Reverend S. Samaila, preached on “The Loyalty of a Soldier as Catalyst to Transformation,” encouraging officers to remain loyal, morally upright, and spiritually grounded. He emphasized that real transformation in the Army begins with a deep inner commitment to duty and faith.
The colourful event featured musical presentations from church groups and was graced by top state officials, traditional rulers, clergy, heads of security and paramilitary agencies, as well as members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA).
