The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has called on Corps Members to accept their postings in good faith and commit themselves to national service with a spirit of patriotism and discipline. He made the appeal during his official visit to the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two Corps Members currently undergoing orientation at the NYSC Lagos State Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja.

An official signed statement issued by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the Scheme, Caroline Embu disclosed that General Nafiu while addressing the Corps Members during an interactive session, urged them to settle quickly into their various places of primary assignment and contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities. He emphasized that the spirit of the NYSC scheme is anchored on unity, service, and national integration.

“As you have obeyed the clarion call, I urge you as Nigerian youths to believe in this country and lift this nation high,” he said. “We expect you to be patriotic citizens of this nation because Nigeria belongs to us. Wherever you are posted to, try and be diligent at your duty posts.”

He advised Corps Members to learn and respect the culture and traditions of their host communities, noting that every region of Nigeria is rich in cultural heritage. He also issued a stern warning against any form of misconduct, stressing that violations of the NYSC bye-laws and national laws would attract serious sanctions.

“Don’t travel at night and don’t travel without authorization,” he warned, adding that the safety and discipline of Corps Members remain a priority for the scheme.

In her briefing to the Director General, the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs Christianah Salmwang, said the orientation programme was progressing smoothly and that the Corps Members had been fully integrated into camp activities and committees. She praised their enthusiasm and discipline, describing their performance as tremendous.
