NEMA DISTRIBUTES RELIEF ASSISTANCE TO 2023 FLOOD VICTIMS IN JOS NORTH LGA, PLATEAU STATE

As part of living up to its vision and mission, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) North Central Zone on 14th February 2024 distributed relief items to the victims of 2023 flood  in Jos North Local Government Areas of plateau State. The affected areas includes  Rukuba, Rikos and Gada Biyu communities in the Local Government after a joint assessment between NEMA/SEMA and other stakeholders in the state.

Speaking on the exercise , the Zonal Coordinator comiserated with the affected persons and emphasised that the Federal and State Government through NEMA and SEMA will consistently consider the plight of persons affected by varoius disasters across Nigeria and in this case Jos North Local Government Area.

 The ZC also reminded the communities that disaster management is everyone’s business and requires Community effort to be properly managed, while stating that preparation should begin in order to prevent subsequent flooding by not building on water ways, clearing refuse dumps and adhere to proper building codes. 

The Distribution Exercise was hitch-free as the beneficiaries also expressed their gratitude and appreciated the items distributed
