The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), in a precision air operation conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, June 5, 2025, delivered a devastating blow to terrorist elements in Buratai, Borno State, neutralising several insurgents and destroying two gun trucks in a decisive strike that further degrades the capabilities of the terrorists in the region.

According to an official signed statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the air interdiction was executed under the auspices of Operation HADIN KAI following credible intelligence indicating the movement of terrorist fighters attempting to escape with four gun trucks.

Surveillance assets of the NAF were swiftly deployed to monitor the insurgents’ movement along an active logistics corridor in the area. Upon confirmation of the targets, air assets were scrambled and engaged the convoy with precision-guided munitions.

“The airstrikes resulted in the destruction of two gun trucks fully loaded with supplies and the neutralisation of several fighters. The remaining insurgents dispersed in disarray, abandoning weapons and logistics in their flight,” the statement revealed.

Air Commodore Ejodame further noted that the operation represents another tactical success in the continuing air campaign aimed at dismantling the operational infrastructure of terrorist factions operating in the North East.

He added that follow-up operations are ongoing, and that further details would be communicated in due course as assessments continue.

The Nigerian Air Force reiterated its commitment to sustaining momentum in the fight against terrorism, while also commending the efforts of intelligence and surveillance teams whose coordination enabled the swift execution of the strike.

The latest operation in Buratai is part of a broader strategic effort by the Armed Forces of Nigeria to deny terrorists freedom of movement, disrupt their logistics channels, and eliminate high-value targets posing threats to national security.
