INEC Refutes Reports on LP, PDP Executives

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted media reports alleging that it has acknowledged new persons as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), or reinstated an individual as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued on Thursday, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, described the reports as false and misleading.

He clarified that the Commission has not made any decisions regarding the ongoing leadership disputes within either political party.

Oyekanmi explained that the names currently listed on INEC’s website are based on earlier court rulings and have no connection to the recent Supreme Court judgment involving the Labour Party.

Regarding the PDP, he emphasized that there has been no change to the status of its listed officials no one has been either reinstated or removed.

“As a law-abiding institution, the Commission is carefully studying the Supreme Court’s judgment on the Labour Party and will communicate its official position in due course.” The statement concluded
