As the Easter holiday commences, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has cautioned motorists against violating traffic rules and regulations. In his Easter message, Mohammed emphasized the importance of strict adherence to traffic laws during the celebration, warning that unnecessary infractions could lead to undesirable consequences.
A statement signed by the commission’s spokesperson ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, disclosed that to ensure a safe and free motoring environment for all road travelers during the Easter celebration, the FRSC National Headquarters has deployed sufficient personnel and logistics to cover major corridors and identified black spots across the country. According to ACM Ogungbemide, the Corps Marshal noted that Easter is a period of sober reflection, and the lessons learned should teach everyone to be more careful and considerate in the use of roads.
Mohammed urged motorists to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and volunteers mobilized for the special operations to guarantee their success. He commended FRSC personnel and other security agencies involved in the special operations for their sacrifices, appealing for sustained collaboration beyond the festive period.
The statement further disclosed that the Corps Marshal also urges members of the public to report emergencies to the nearest FRSC office or patrol teams or call the Toll-free emergency number: 122 or the studio of the National Traffic Radio, 107.1 FM for prompt response. Mohammed wishes all Nigerians a happy and safe Easter celebration, while urging FRSC personnel to prioritize their personal safety in all circumstances.
