Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) on the ongoing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A on 2 April 2025 foiled militia attacks on communities of Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Taddai and Hurti in Bokkos local government area (LGA) of Plateau State.

Media Information Officer Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom in a signed statement disclosed that during the operation, troops made contact, overwhelmed and forced the attackers to abandon 1 AK-47 rifle and 6 motorcycles. Troops exploited the general area and observed traces of blood along the withdrawal route of the criminals.

Through further exploitation of the attacked locations in Bokkos, troops on 3 April 2025, conducted clearance operations at Hurti community having observed the activities of militias within the mountainous area.

Troops engaged the criminals with high volume of fire, forcing them to withdraw in disarray. The area was combed by troops and 1 locally fabricated pistol, 6 rounds of 9mm and 4 motorcycles were recovered. Troops are currently dominating the general area to neutralised the fleeing criminals.

Additionally, on 3 April 2025, troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gashish conducted offensive operations at Dome Hill, Rahul Mazat and Anguwa Mamuda in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State.

During the operations, troops acting on credible intelligence searched the hideout of some notorious criminals and recovered 1 fabricated revolver rifle, 1 round of 7.62mm (Special) and cash amounting to the sum of Eighty Nine Thousand Eight Hundred naira (#89,800.00) only.

However, the suspects escaped before troops arrived at the site. The recovered arm and ammunition are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing criminals.

Also, on 3 April 2025, troops of Sector 2 OPSH in conjunction with local vigilantes acting on credible intelligence on the activities of bandits along Kampani Zurak road in Wase LGA of Plateau State, conducted offensive operations to clear the criminals. During the engagement, troops neutralised one bandit and recovered 1 AK-47 rifle magazine, 1 motorcycle amongst other items. Troops are in pursuit of the other fleeing bandits.

Operation SAFE HAVEN will continue to frustrate the activities of non-state actors, and denying them freedom of action in a bid to protect lives and property of law abiding residents in the Joint Operations Area.
